Riddle of KN Marseille hub
Warehouse complete but forwarder hasn't moved in
Kuehne + Nagel (KN) has declined to comment on reports that it has dropped a project to set up a southern European hub at the port of Marseille.
In June 2006, KN confirmed to the port authority (PAM) its plans to open an 80,000sq metre logistics hub in the Fos-Distriport zone leased from local property developer PRD.
A PAM spokesman said the first phase of the hub – a 48,000sq metre warehouse had been completed, but there was no sign of KN occupying it.
PRD told IFW the warehouse was available, but currently unoccupied. It added that while KN had been earmarked for the facility, “it had been built without securing tenants beforehand”.
