TNT is optimistic that some European flights will resume soon. Meanwhile, it continues to implement contingency plans, with no cargo travelling long-haul.
David Walker,TNT’s head of communications, told IFW: “We are continuing to transport whatever we can via road, and that’s it at the moment. We are still waiting on a day-to-day basis for the air authorities to confirm it’s safe.
“There seem to be positive signs – British Airways flew a B747 for three hours with [its CEO] Willie Walsh on board yesterday, as if to prove a point – as if to say ‘if it’s safe enough for our top man, it’s safe enough for the public’.
“So, there definitely seem to be things afoot to get things moving again, but I think we will be biding our time a little bit longer.
“Everything is on an ad hoc daily basis at the moment.”
