Geodis set to complete Giraud deal

Geodis looks set to acquire road haulier Giraud’s northern and southern European full- and part-truckload business, after entering into exclusive negotiations with the operator.

Geodis said the acquisition would allow it to expand the coverage of its road transport business, Geodis BM, in Europe, particularly Spain.

Last July, Geodis bought the central and eastern European divisions and the iron and steel activities of Giraud.
Operator aims to boost network with takeover of two more divisions of French haulier

CEO Jean-Louis Demeulenaere said: “This is an opportunity to build a true European network and to play a full role in the group’s global end-to-end offering.

“With this new network, the revenue of Geodis BM would exceed €1 billion (US$1.3bn) .”

Giraud is the third-largest road freight carrier in Spain, a major player in France and with a presence in Italy and the UK, employing almost 700 staff in the north and south divisions.
